Crash investigation services

We use our experience and expertise in the road and vehicle safety industry to offer crash investigation services looking at crash causation and injury prevention. Particular issues we investigate include questions regarding:

  • Seatbelt usage
  • Driver distraction
  • Road design, including sight lines, delineation and signage
  • Motorcyclist, bicyclist and e-mobility rider injuries
  • Environmental factors
  • Slips, trips and falls. 

Our Principal

David Beck

David brings extensive expertise in automotive and road safety engineering, with deep knowledge across vehicle systems, human tolerance, and road design. His foundation in biomedical,  mechanical, and traffic engineering — supported by postgraduate qualifications — allows him to take a multidisciplinary view of crash causation and injury prevention.


With 18 years of experience in the road and vehicle safety industry, David has contributed to numerous national research projects, crash test programs, and safety standards.  His work has assessed the real-world performance of protective clothing and helmets, child restraints, e-mobility devices, and emerging autonomous vehicle technologies.


David is sought after for his expertise in forensic crash investigations, where he is recognised for his clear, considered analysis and ability to communicate complex findings with clarity and credibility.


Beyond his technical work, David as an active committee member in the NSW  Chapter of the Australasian College of Road Safety and is a respected mentor within the road safety community — supporting the next generation of professionals committed to a safe system.

Awards

While at Transurban, our Principal led the development of advanced dashboards leveraging connected vehicle data to monitor evolving traffic conditions and support targeted safety interventions. Our work on the original dashboard for the M7 Widening Project was recognised with the 2025 Australian Road Safety Award for Workplace Safety.

While at Transport for NSW, our Principal led the creation of the Motorcycle Clothing Assessment Program (MotoCAP)—a world-first consumer information initiative that helps riders understand the protective performance of their gear. MotoCAP earned international recognition, winning the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) 2019 Road Safety Award.
